The current academic year is ending, and our current batch of EXCOs will be graduating or stepping down. We have chosen a new list of members to become the new EXCOs. We sincerely hope that they can bring the club to a greater height and provide more opportunities for the members to mingle around with each other.

NES Entrepreneurship Challenge 2009

On Friday, 16 October, it was the NES Entrepreneurship Challenge proudly organized by the NUS Entrepreneurship Society. SPSE sent a team of 3 year1 students to represent Singapore Poly in this competition. The team comprising Cherryl Teo, Gerald Low and Liau Min Yee were hailed as the overall winner for the competition, having a tough mind battle among the other groups sent by 3 other JCs/Polys.

After registration at NUS, we went by a chartered bus to Udders Kilat Café. And soon, there was this interaction session with the founder of Udders Ice Cream, Mr David Yim, who spoke to us about his experience in starting up this business, the obstacles he faced, and the little milestone to his success

After gaining a better understanding of the company, it is time for the participants to get creative. They can either create new products for the company or come up with novel business proposals. After which, Mr David Yim gave his comments and opinions of the ideas presented by the different groups and determine the best group who gave the best business idea.

Through such an experience, the NES Entrepreneurship Challenge aims to foster a spirit of teamwork and creativity in knowledge applications. Students would also greatly benefit from an invaluable networking opportunity with enterprising members of other schools as well as real-life entrepreneurs.

Firstly, i would like to apologise to all dear readers bout the delay base on the uploading of the photos taken during the 2D1N Camp. First of all, to keep in introduction short, the SPSE camp was held on the 5th and 6th June. Initially, It was supposed to be a 3D2N camp but due to some unforeseen circumstances, we decided to compress the whole camp into 2D1N.

Campers assembled at the meeting point during the stated timing, most of them early while some others were late.

The Camp started off with a few ice breaking games, in order for the campers and helpers to know each other well. The game start off with Good evening game, whereby everyone have to introduced themselves and also remembered the peoples in front of them. Games like "blow wind blow" and "Bang" were played and campers participated eagerly in every game.

As every game comes to an end, the campers and helpers manager to know each other alittle more.

The forfeit of Bang : the dead to perform "Chicky Dance" for the last 4 survivors. Survivors also need to perform "Banana Dance" in return of their effort.

Right after the ice breaking games, campers were led to their respective classrooms to place their belongings and to rest for a couple of minutes. Altogether, we had only 13 campers, and these 13 were broken down into 2 groups, named ERIC and AIYA. After the short rest, campers were brought to ground level at school of business to start of another game to bond all the group members closer together.

After which was supper, ********* and shower before they head to their respective classroom to end the day.

The second and Final day of the camp, an unexpected situation happen.. Our campers waked up early than our helpers. After having breakfast, they are brought to the basketball court for some physical activities, Captain's ball and Capture the flag..

After that, we have our lunch time before we carry on the with the next activity, Amazing Race.. And the finale of the camp, our BBQ and follow by camp debrief..

Firstly, we would like to thanks everyone for coming down, hope u all enjoy yourselves.

Secondly, we would like to thanks DIS for sponsoring the food for the event, and also Ms Joyce Neo to make her trip down to talk to all members and introduced the spices fund scheme to them.

Not forgetting the MC, Chin Xiang and his effort to prepare the PowerPoint for the presentation.

The welcome party was a quite a success and we almost full the LT up. This is the first time we are holding this event, as we would like the members to know our Exco, brief introduction of our events and also socialize around with other members before our freshmen orientation camp.

Our First COW

Chill Out Wednesday aka Cow, one of our club activities whereby members of the club can come chill out with us on every Wednesday from 12pm till 5pm. We are offering a platform where you can rest, make new friends, and play games such as CASHFLOW & MONOPOLY. Our clubhouse is located above food court 5, and we have sufficient seats for 15 pax.
Our first Cow event (13th May 2009) was a success. We have members in the clubhouse relaxing, chatting, playing monopoly, and resting. Moreover, you can suggest ideas for our new events to our committee members, or even joining them for planning events that we have!
So, what are you waiting for? Come and join us on the next Wednesday, let’s have fun together and give our best to SPSE club! Cya there…

SPSE CCA Booth from Far

A Closer Look of Our Booth

We are glad to announce our launching of facebook group, http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=507300409#/group.php?gid=76442579579 and twitter, http://twitter.com/spseclub. For the 3 days SP CCA Showcase (6 th -8th May 2009), we were targeting 100 students to sign up for the club and we hit the target! We have a total of 107 students signed up, the number among the genders are quite balanced.

Our current events will be the Chilling Out Wednesday, named as COW. We will open up the clubhouse on Wednesday after 12pm, for members to mingle around, making bonds, looking for more common interests friends, and relax. We also have some board games which members can play at the clubhouse. SPSE clubhouse is located above Foodt court 5, next to library club.

The upcoming events will be supporting our SIFE team at the national competition, talks and FO camp. Further details of events will be informed in the next posts and via email. So, check out our blog frequently and keep updated! (Eric & Andhini)
